Cesar and Marritza Perez and their two miniature pinschers, Max and Muņeca are looking forward to starting a new life in their new home, which is being built fall 2007. Cesar and Marritza have been married for three years and while they do not have any children yet, they are planning to start a family in the next few years.

Delfina Diaz will begin building her Habitat home this fall for herself, her three daughters and her two grandchildren. Delfina, her children and her grandchildren are looking forward to having a real home for their family. The family is currently living in a three bedroom duplex that they rent.

The Davis Family

Mattie Davis, mother of three and grandmother of five will begin building her house fall of 2007. Mattie is extremely happy to be so close to owning her own home. Although Mattie does not usually enjoy moving she is looking forward to her upcoming move, and plans to live in her new home for quite awhile. She said, "I'm very excited, sometimes I can hardly contain myself."

The Gauna Family

Javier and Nohemi Gauna have been married sixteen years and have four children ranging from fifteen to one year of age. They will begin building their home fall 2007. The Gauna family can't wait until they have a new home of their own! They are currently renting a three bedroom house in Krum, TX that is without heating or air conditioning. Javier Gauna said, "It is very difficult right now." They are extremely eager to have a home with the basic necessities, and most would agree that in Texas air conditioning is a necessity not a luxury.

Lana Gee is very excited about having her family together under one roof in their new home being built in fall 2007. Lana is a single mother of four and grandmother of three and is looking forward to the stability her new home will provide for her family. Currently their living situation is what Lana describes as "scattered." Lana is living with her sister, her two granddaughters Mikaela and Kayce are living with her mother, her son Kerry is living with his brother and her daughter Kameshia with a friend. Lana said, "We go by everyday to look at the progress of the house. I already call it home."

The Morataya Family

Jose and Maria Morataya have six children Alex 17, Melissa 16, Morgan 13, Jose 10, and twins Andres and Jorge 8. Their story is one of tragedy, courage, faith and inspiration. The Morataya family has undergone a lot in the last 3 years. March 13, 2004 was a Saturday night at the beginning of spring break; they had just arrived home from church and were getting ready for bed. All the children had gone out of town for spring break except Morgan who was 10 at the time. He suddenly heard a noise that he could only describe as sounding like a bomb exploding. It was not a bomb but a car, driven by a drunk driver. After crashing into his parent's bedroom, the car slammed into his mom Maria, pushing her through four walls, and trapping her under the car for more than 2 hours. Maria was critically injured.
